Printer Help plz

The Printer Will Not Print When You Click 'Print'I've upgraded to XP Pro and I'm using my old printer HP 882C ScanJet,they say it's not compatible with XP. Well I tweaked it here and there and I got it to work. But it will not start up if you click print on your tool bar,but if you turn on the printer first then click print,it will print just fine. I know this is minor but does and one know a fix for this. I've been to HP website,with no help,also I have the lastest drivers.

XP Pro
640 Mb Ram

 

Scanjet?

I'm only aware of there being an 882C DESKjet.

If thats the case, you should use the built in drivers, not the HP software, as it won't work right.

 

OOPS,I meant DeskJet882C and I've tried what you suggested,thanks again Adrynalyne. I know this is a minor thing I can still print,but I like things to work perfect.

Well, what I'd do is make certain all HP software is removed from the system.

Then, go through this article:

While not the error you are getting, this is what MS refers to as a manual rip of the third party printer software.

Just do it and make sure all the HP garbage is gone.

Then reinstall the printer.

Probably best to have it turned off while doing this.

 

Didn't work,looks like something I have to live with for awhile. Like I said before,at least I can print,I just have to turn on the printer first instead of just a click. Thanks again.

 

Is it USB? is it hooked into a hub, or the motherboard?

If its USB, go into Device manager, properties of EACH USB root hub, and click on the power management tab.

Make sure NOTHING is checked.

Went there and unchecked,,,allow computer to turn off this device to save power ( in USB Root Hub ) and click OK. Closed out of there,printer will still not start on its own if you click the print icon.
PS: Nothing else was checked in there.
