printer help!

i just put xp on a new hd and i looked at my printer and it has been recognized . the canon discs say they are for win 95,98, and win 3.1. can i use these or this printer or will i have to get another one? maybe just new drivers? i wasn't sure where to post this. it's kind of a general question.

I suspect that when xp "recognized" your printer, it also told you it was installed and ready to use ....start / printers and settings ....should show the printer (on line or ready) ....you don't need to install drivers as they are built into xp ....

No ....could go to their web site and see if you can find updated drivers ...but you shouldn't need them...what software do you want to use?

the printer is functioning and i was looking at the other software decided i could do without it and didn't need it on the new clean drive. so everything is cool, but the security suite is giving me hell, i think. i got a cant find server page again and i had to reboot several times to get back. the suite is freezing up and the tray icon jerks and sputers. its gotta be in this security suite but i'm not having much luck with any security. is there a way to tweak it so it doesn't seem so harsh in its reactions?
