This printer is about 1.5 years old. It worked very well. When we moved it to another floor in the building we found that everytime we need to reboot the PC we need to disconnect the USB cable from the back of the printer in order for Windows XP to start. Once Windows starts we plug the USB cable back in and all is fine and works very well. If we do not disconnect the USB cable upon start up, we get a grey screen with a blinking cursor and just hangs in there.
I spent a considerable amount of time with HP with no luck. I reinstalled the software a couple of times with the latest drivers, etc.

    Please advise
    Thank you

    Hi

Only thought I have at present as this is a weird issue and one I have never heard of before is to open Device Manager and open the Universal Serial Bus Controllers branch and then look for the listing of the Printer majority of the time it lists with its name but if not sadly its a case of opening up and looking at each of the properties for the USB Hubs and seeing what one also lists a printer in the Power Tab and right click and uninstall the ones that have, also if USB Printing Support is listed uninstall that one also, then reboot with the printer not connected and this should reinstall the hubs, then connect the printer.

May need to re-install the driver.
