Printer isn't working

I have an HP Officejet J5780 All-in-One printer. It has been acting weird for the past several months. So, I decided it to uninstall it and try to reload the software for it. Now it won't work at all. Help!

 

I should clarify. If I need to print something from this machine via a word processor it works fine. The problem is, the software suite that came with this thing won't work at all now, so I can't copy, scan, or fax. I also have this machine set up to a home network and now that I have uninstalled/reinstalled it I can't access it through my laptop.

I have a Windows 7 64-bit system and a older version HP OfficeJet J5780 all-in-one
Here's how I fixed the problem. Download the full package version software and drivers from the HP website and save it to your desktop. Unplug the USB cable from the printer and PC, uninstall and delete all HP software, files and folders, reboot PC. Right-click on the HP executable icon that you saved to your desktop, click properties, under the General tab click Unblock (if shown) them apply, click the Compatibility tab, check the box next to Run the program in compatibility mode for, then pick your operating system from the list, check the box next to Run the program as an administrator, click the change settings for all users button, check the box next to Run the program as an administrator, click apply and OK, then apply (if shown) then OK again. Go back to the HP exe. On your desktop, right-click, then click run as administrator (just to make sure), I left the folder set to the default folder shown to extract the software and drivers but that's up to you, click extract to start the download and installation. Don't plug the USB cable back in until instructed to do so during the process, follow the on-screen instructions. For some reason during the process I got a FATAL ERROR MESSAGE don't know why, just click OK if this happens, when it finishes it should automatically reboot your system, then you might have some UAC. boxes pop up after the reboot just click yes on all of them, I had quite a few, then you should be ready to go. You should have a Solution Center icon on your desktop if you installed it. Just double-click it and it should open up your HP center. At least this is what worked for me.

Go into your Services and see if your Print Spooler in on.
