Printer Issue!!

Hey all I got a problem I was wondering if anyone can help me with. I have a Epson Photp Printera Stylus R220. When printing the color is coming out all jacked up. Its printing the colors completly wrong. Whne I tried printing a photo the black shirt I was wearing came out almost a neon orange. I tried printing regular and it still did it. Even plain text printing is dicey. Dunno how much this matters but I have Windows Xp service Pack 2. Oh I have had this print correctly before.

 

Sounds like there's a hardware fault with the printer. Either the colours are wrong due to the jets or cart, or some kind of erronenous comms.

To be honest it might be easier to invest in a new printer mate; especially if you've had it for a while.

 

And see its relativly new. Got it at Xmas. And it has worked fine before. Unfortunatly the funds are not there for a new one right now. Any other suggestions?

 

What is the status of your ink cartridges? I've had two inkjet printers that printed text and colors crazy when they were running out of ink!

 

Thinking about it logically: the printer is printing the images in the correct alignment so it looks like it is interpreting the documents correctly and suggests the problem lies in the ink itself.

I would make up a document with all the primary ink colours on it, print it out, and see which ones have been affected. Also it might be worth trying a new colour ink cartridge, or with just a black cartridge. This way you can eliminate whether it's the cartridge, the hardware, or the comms.

Just to ask though mate: if it's having problems within 12 months of having it won't it still be in warranty? It's the general period for suppliers and manufacturers so it might be worth contacting both.

 

Thx pizzabox. I am going to try those suggestions. I hadnt thought of that. I actually think it might be the black one. It seems like thats the one color it always messes up on. But I am going to try those ideas.
