Printer Keeps "cycling"

About 75% of the time, when the print job is completed, the printer continues to cycle...................like an old record at the end of play before the arm is removed from the platter. This mechanical "cycling" goes on even if there are no documents in the print cue. Only way to stop it is to disconnect the printer from 110 volts.

 

I suggest you check if the driver software is up to date. Otherwise do a total and clean uninstall of all the HP printer software, restart your system, and reinstall from a fresh download. These are standard troubleshooting steps.

 

Are you saying this cycling will keep going on for hours and hours if you don't kill the power?

It is not uncommon for printers to perform some self-maintenance/cleaning tasks just before printing or just after. My HP 7525 does this. In some cases, it seems to go on for awhile, but in reality, it is less than a minute.

I note that is a network capable printer. How is it connected? Do other computers print to it and if so, do they see this cycling too? If more than one computer is seeing this, it is not a driver issue.

 

It is a wireless printer dedicated to one desktop PC. It gets print jobs on average every 4-5 days. I permitted the cycling to continue for less than a minute before cutting power. This situation has started over the last couple months. Never before.
