printer, network or USB

Hi
I have a printer that I use and now I can't have it on the same floor.
I use Windows 7 and via a USB cord I use a HP Laserjet 3055
I have a home network/internet connection via ATT
so can I get my printer to print via the network
OR
do I have to connect to the printer via USB cord, as I am currently?
I do not know enough about computers to know
could someone help me?

It seems to say I must be connected
so do I need a long usb cord

After reading through the information provided in the links you supplied, it seems that your printer doesn't support wi-fi or ethernet connection. So, you'll have to get a long USB cable and MAY need to drill a hole between floors as I don't know how long of a USB cable you'll need or can get.

 

Do you have a router? Some routers have USB ports. You'd attach the printer to that port and use it as a networked printer.
My old HP printer is not wifi but it makes no difference. I have it attached to the router and can print to it from three netbooks and 3 desktop computers, one of which is in the basement and the router is on the first floor.
