Printer Not Detected?

When I plug my Epson c64 Printer into the LPT Printer Port Nothing happens. On my old Motherboard XP use to detect it straight away.

I just Installed a Asus P4P800 VM/S and when I plug the printer In nothing happens at all. I have installed all the drivers from the CD and all the USB ports work fine.

I have a P4 2.8.
512 400 Kingston Ram
Nvidia 6800 Graphics Card
60GB Hard Drive
MSI DVD R RW CDR RW Combo

Hope someone can suggest something to try.

Check if 'print spooler' is running?

 

Spooler is not running

 

Go into bios and set the LPT port mode to ECP if it's at EPP now, or vice versa. You might even have a 'standard' so try that also. Or you could go to epsons site and try to find out what the correct setting is, if you don't wanna guess.

 

I just ended up plugging it into my USB port instead and it worked fine

still strange why LPT1 is not working though
