printer paper

My printer started to print light colors. I cleaned all and replaced cartridges.
The diagnostics report the printer is fine and the tests are ok.
I mixed paper up some time ago and may have commingled one type with the other. i was told that some printers require a specific paper.
Is it true that light colors could be due to the wrong paper. I am currently using HP premium photo paper soft gloss and have a Canon printer.

Most inkjet printers aren't picky so long as you aren't using glossy non-photo paper or something offbeat like children's construction paper. Personally, I buy and use whatever coper or general purpose paper that Office Depot or OfficeMax has on sale at the time I need it without any problems.

If you have a printer that uses individual color ink tanks (not an all-in-one color cartridge), it's possible the print head (the piece the individual ink tanks plug into) is either clogged or going bad. Using your printer's utility and troubleshooting program, run the head cleaning cycle a few times and see if it helps.

Finally, check the print settings: If you are printing in "fast", "draft" or "ink saver" mode, the colors come out much lighter than "normal" or "best quality" modes.

I have run the cleaning devices about 4 times and the colors are still vague or very weak. Both cartidges - blcck and color - are new so I guess it is the printer. Canon is giving me what I paid for it 3 years ago(Oct). It is an all in one.

 

Make sure you select in the print driver properties the paper "Type" that you are using.
