   When I try to enter the printer preferences under Vista to change the default to black cartrdge and start printing from last page, the preferences page shows up fleeting (< 1 sec).
   The diver is a vista driver (HP Deskjet 5550)

   I have not come across this in Vista, yet, , but I usually set the printer in the printers folder, anyway, - perhaps that will be the way to go.
