I hate my computer so much. I just ran the system recovery because i had a explorer shelll problem or something then i updated everything back to normal. I removed msvm and replaced it with sun java. Now my printer does n't work AT ALL! I've tried everything they told me to try. I reinstalled it a dozen times. I am using a compaq pressario 6000 and its getting to the point where i want to just buy a new computer and start from scratch. I tried everything they said to try. When I try to reinstall my printer software it tells me the msvm thing i unistalled wont load and that something failed. When i try to print something it just doesn't respond at all. It does absolutely nothing! I see a icon pop up on the taskbar for a few seconds then it disapears and nothing happens. I am so fustrated with this computer. Everytime i try to do something to make it alittle more managable for me it comes and bites me in the butt. I went to the store to get a new graphics card the other day. It took hours to get it then get it up in. After the guy attempted to installed it(installation=$30) he said it wouldn't fit and that i needed a lower model that wouldn't help me to play the games i wanted to play anyway. So I am to the point where i want to just give up and buy a new computer before this one drives me insane. I just wanted to ask someone who knows alittle about these things...Is it me or do i need to scrap this pile of dry vomit?:)

    Hi hanniblex
Sorry you're having so much grief.
Have you tried reinstalling Microsoft Virtual Machine?
My printer was doing the very same thing last night (i.e. icon, and no response)
I solved that by going to device manager, and removing the printer.Unplugging the printer (USB) Restarting, and reinstalling the drivers and reconnecting the printer.
If you're thinking of ditching the whole thing, it may be worth doing a format and fresh install on the system you have first. Maybe Windows has just got corrupted. Sometimes it's quicker and easier to just wipe and start again.
As for your GFX card. Doesn't your motherboard have an AGP slot on it? What type of card were you trying to install?

How do i get Microsoft Virtual Machine back?
It has a AGP slot but the OpenGL is lower than 2 so it couldn't support a decent graphics card.
I was trying to install some Geforce graphic card...al i remember is that the packaging was nice. I got all excited because it looked so good and i thought i would see a vast improvement, but i was disapointed.

You fixed my printer......I LOVE YOU! FINALLY SOMETHING THAT WORKS!......*cough* yea thank you and i still wanna know what u have to say about the GFX card.

Ahem.. at least we're getting somewhere :)
To sort out Microsoft Virtual Machine, try the two steps on this page:

If the first one doesn't work, try step 2 and then step 1.
GFX... Do you mean the AGP port is 1X or 2X? I'm not sure what you mean by OpenGL is lower than 2. Maybe listing the exact model number of your comp[uter may help. I think Presario 6000 is the series number, rather than the model number?

Yes i mean the AGP port is 1X, and the model is presario6400NX.

    Ouch!
I though you'd have been able to stick an AGP card in there anyway, but it would run at a lower speed. Unless Compaq have done something odd with the slot and customised it in some way. Wouldn't be the first time they've changed something from the standard.
If you have a spare PCI slot, you could always go for a PCI card, or the other one, is change your motherboard.
What GFX card were you hoping to put in there?

Well do i need a new computer to put in a descent GFX card? or can i just keep this one....btw when i restarted today my computer sounded like a car engine...is something wrong?

    lol!
If it doesn't usually sound like a car engine, then maybe!
May be something as simple as a stray cable 'clacking' against the fins of one of your case fans.
As for the GFX card - it may be worth investing in a new motherboard capable of AGP 8X, make sure it has the same socket as your current CPU.

    How much would that cost?

consider the fact that compaq and other big pc manufacturers regularly prioritize their cases and motherboards. don't expect to be able to buy a motherboard from your local pc shop and expect it to fit.

if i can't buy if from a pc shop then what can i do?....and how much will all this cost?

Good point by acejones, especially where compaq are concerned.
If the case isn't ATX, you'd have to factor in a case as well as a mobo.
You could probably pick up both for around £70 (which is what? 100 odd in funny-munny)
May be best to take it to a reputable shop and let them see what's inside.
