My Cannon MP 600 stopped sharing on a wireless network after years of service. Installed new drivers, no fix. Computer manufacture, nor Canon, have no suggestions. I am using Windows XP on an Inspiron 530 Dell desktop. The problem is the share feature will respond with the message, printer settings could not be saved, operation could not be completed. There are four computers on the networ, three with XP systems and one with Vista. Any ideas? Thanks mickeytoo

Have you made any changes with your router? Are you sure about that? There is no reason for it to stop failing out of the blue barring a hardware problem with the printer or router. In this case it will be hard to diagnose which is the problem unless you have a spare router and printer which you wouldn't.

Only thing left is a failure on the hardware in the printer unless someone else has another idea.

MP600 has a wireless print server added to it? You have it attached to your XP computer via USB? You are using bluetooth? Something is missing here, the MP600 doesn't come with wireless capability.

If it's attached to your computer via usb, does the printer work from the attached computer?

Thank You The printer is attached to a desktop compute as is the other printer that shares with not problem. All other features of the printer work fine, it is a mutifunction outfit. The Navigator 3 did return when new drivers were installed.

So the computer the Canon is attached to prints fine but not any of the computers trying to share the Canon on the network?

Have you tried putting the Canon on the computer that has the other printer and put the other printer on this one? A trade, basically? That would help tell if the computer is making it fail. I suspect it is the computer, not the wireless network, that is the cause of the problem. Microsoft update, A/V, firewall or software could cause sharing problems.

The canon printer is connected to a desktop and the printer will operate all functions through that hardwired computer. The on screen Navigator that will allow operation of the scanner from the computer did not work either but the new drivers did restore that function. Thank You mickeytoo

Thank you for clarifying, I think I understand the setup now.

What operating system does the hardwired computer have? What antivirus or malware protection are you using? Do you have a software based firewall? Have you changed or added security to the computer recently? Can you share files from the hardwired computer on the network for other computers?

I believe your hardwired computer is preventing the sharing from working properly.

Some programs do not turn off all their features when you tell them to turn off, but we can try.

Unplug your network from the internet

Turn off AVG and Advanced System Care on the attached computer.

Try to access the Canon printer via the network.

Turn AVG and Advanced back on

    Plug network back in

Followed the directions with no luck. My antivirus could not hide my identity, a feature of AVG, until I rebooted Thanks mickeytoo
