printer software

Somehow ended up with an extra "copy" of my HP printer software. The one that works is HP (Copy 1). I am trying to delete the first one that doesn't work, and it says status "deleting offline" but never goes away. I tried logging all profiles on, does not work.

 

Tried it in safe mode?

 

Thanks for reply. When I booted to safe mode, and selected the Printers and Faxes icon from the Start menu, there were 0 objects showing. When I go to add remove programs, I am unable to identify the duplicate HP product as I can with the Printers and Faxes icon. (id's extra as copy 1).

 

If I am understanding you correctly, you need to stop the print spooler first. From the command prompt type:

net stop spooler

 

Will I need to somehow restart the spooler when I delete the extra copy?
