printer spool problem

Need help I had problem with my printer, It's a IJ 750 compaq printer, when I tried to print anything it says it was suppose to print, but it never would print.It was on the right port for printing, so I tried to delete the printer then reinstall printer but it wouldn't take all the way, it would say that the printer spool is not running, so I tried it again it wouldn't even let me delete printer. I am running xp pro, even know when I boot up I get spool error. Any help would be great Thanks

 

Is the print spooler service turned on.
Control panel>administrative tools>servicec>print spooler>ensure it is started.

 

It was not turned on., I started it, then when i log off, it go's off again. any sugg's?

 

Make sure it is automatic,not manual?

 

It's in auto, I'm also getting spool subsystem app. error, are they the same? any sugg's.

 

Try reinstallin your driver.

Also tried to re-install printer software, getting the same spooler subsystem app? I also tried to get the updated version for xp pro that is what I'm running, could not select for xp. only up to windows 2000.I installed printer when I had windows 98, Any idea's would be helpful. Thanks

If I do system restore to a point before all the problems, would that fix the spooler subsystem app problem? thanks

Thanks for the information, also when I tried to delete orginal printer I also deleted microsoft office Doc image writer by mistake how can i get that back? Or where can I go to re-install it? Thanks for all your help
