Printer Spooler

I need help i got a printer that stopped working and i've had it for less than two months. it started off fine in the beginning of the week and then it went bad. i went to services.msc and restarted the printer spooler and it worked fine for a few pages then the printer stopped all the prints and about 8 documents stayed in queue until the computer was restarted when it was restarted i remained at the log in screen where the prints then started to print from queue. when it happens again i to back into services.msc and restart the printer spooler and it only works for a few pages and then goes dead again. i'm wondering what's going on can anyone help me. i'm runnning a hp laserjet 1020 on win xp pro.
