i just got a new HP printer as my old one died. I have a weird issue here. With the printer connected to the PC the computer will not startup, it freezes at the bios screen. If I unplug the printer Windows XP starts up fine. I then can plug the printer in and everything works.

Any idea why the PC is locking up with the printer plugged in? I have tried all the USB ports and it does the same on all.

Did you uninstall the previous driver from your comp?
Do you follow the procedure for installing the new print?
You,must not plug the new print before installing new drivers.

If it freezes at the BIOS screen, go in, look around and see if anything needs to be changed.
