Printing/Printer Problem from my computer

Specs: Windows 2000 SP4, Printer-HP LJ 6P, HP JetDirect Ex Plus box]

Use to have printers set up through a Novell network. Now that's gone, I received an
IP address for the printer in my office that's on a (I believe this is right) peer to peer network, hence the JetDirect box. I've been trying to get a test page to print, but the job somehow gets hung in the process from my computer to the printer. Error message(nothing specific in contests) comes up to retry or cancel the job. I click on cancel, and eventually, what was "stuck" in the print queue comes out with maybe a word or two of the test page contents.

Novell has been removed from my computer. I have deleted the printer drivers, deleted the TCP/IP port, reinstalled drivers and re-created the port, but still run into the hung print job. I went through the troubleshooting method on stopping the spooling service, deleting the drivers in the specified folder, restarting computer, but no deal.

I have successfully been able to print to a color printer (HPJD 894 CXi) in my office and to a HP 4050 (B&W printer) in a different office. These were done before I started to get the 6P set up. Other users in my office have been set up for all three computers and are able to print specifically to the 6P except for me.

This has baffled the tech support person at work. Any clues?

Update....

Someone else came by and went through similar steps. One thing different for test purposes only we switched the printer cable to the JetDirect box assgined to the color printer, reassigned the TCP/IP. Bingo! no problem. Put everything back the way it was before, no dice. Looks like something funny with the JetDirect box for the 6P printer, though it works for everyone else but me?

Anyone heard of this? Common problem with JetDirect box? ..... firmware? I know nothing about these boxes.
