Printing with Open Office

So according to my stats, I haven't been here since December of 2009 which I guess is a good thing.

So here's the situation: My problem now is a printing problem; or maybe a software problem. Who knows? I made a database of my Honey's movie collection in Open Office, but I can't print the report.

I made the document on my laptop which is connected remotely to our desk top and the printers which are: a Brother MFC 7220 laser and a Brother MFC 490 inkjet. The printer I want to use is the laser. For some reason the report prints fine on the inkjet and I have no problem printing other documents on the laser. It seems it's just this one report that won't print although my computer gives every indication that it did indeed print; I get no error messages. The document gets sent to the printer and apparently, follows through with the print job, but when I go to the printer, there is nothing.

Has anyone ever heard of such a thing?

    Thanks guys.

Are you able to print to the printer from any other software application? Also, how are they hooked up to the machine that you are trying to do the printing from.

I can print anything else from any other programme. It's just this one document that won't print.

As for the hook up: Both printers are connected to the desk top with the printer cables that came with the printers. I think they're called usb.

Have you tried printing the document to a pdf and then tried the pdf? You can use cutepdf as a printer to do it.

Anything like that, I always save to a pdf, so I have a hard copy that can be searched from the computer. Especially stuff that is a list.

Well thanks again. It turned out to be a really simple process, as there is an export as pdf withing base, so that made it push button easy.

I was thinking that there was. I use cutepdf at work, and use it at home, when I need to save stuff as a pdf, when printing from Internet explorer, since I use MS Office 2k10, and the pdf function is also built in.

As for your problem have you tried uninstalling the drivers, and reinstalling, and doing a test print from Open Office? Also, may want to check their forums, to see if anyone else is having problems with same equipment manufacturer.

I don't know how to uninstall drivers, and quite frankly, the idea scares me.

Yes I have been to Open Office forums, but I haven't found anything like what I'm experiencing. I like the PDF solution, so I'll stick with that.

    Thanks
