   CCleaner ( http://www.majorgeeks.com/CCleaner_Slim_d4191.html ) should get rid of any index.dat files within the folder...if you're having problems accessing the files, try Unlocker ( http://majorgeeks.com/Unlocker_d4660.html ) ...

   Open Internet Explorer 7:
   1. Click the "Tools" menu bar.
   2. Choose "Internet Options".
   3. On the "General" tab, click "Clear History".
   4. When it asks "Delete all items in your History folder?", click "OK". Then OK again.
   
   Or IE 8
   Tools | Internet Options | Browsing History. Click the Delete button.
