My laptop died a while ago. So I finally decided to just get rid of it and drop it off for recycling. I took the hard drive disk out of it and destroyed it though because I didn't want anyone getting a hold of it, just to be on the safe side.

Is there anything else in the hardware of the laptop (Dell) besides that hard drive that stores data that I need to get rid of before discarding the computer?

Also, watch out when prying at the hard drive disk once you get the casing open. It will shatter if you apply too much pressure to it (as I found out). This creates a lot of little sharp shards.

If you destroy the hard drive all data is destroyed.

The hard drive is all that needs to be destroyed.
