Privacy question

    i was just thinkig about this, ok i have my own server, and i use that for email, and thunderbird to snatch it, but sincei am still using my ISP to access the web, do they have any ability to monitor my email?

    i tell ya no matter what i do i keep getting spam, so thats what got me thinking

    thanks, oh and i have verizon dsl

    Yes ISPs can review your emails and surfing habbits, however do they in reality, NO as they would be reviewing 100000000000000s of emails a day so not a cost effective usage of their time. Depending on if your paranoid on the content of your emails and the slim possability of them being read, you can encrypt them... PITA to do as the recipient needs to have a key to decipher.

    Spam well sadly this happens, spammers either guess random email addresses, or get them from unscruplious websites selling their subscription lists, to you accidently posting your email address on any website or forum as spam email harvester bots will grab them.
