Can't find a previous thread with my type of prob, so....

I have a 560 Dell PC w/Win 7, 3 GB RAM and 640GB of Hd Dr. Using Firefox 4.0.1 for browser. IE 9.0.81122.16421 installed. Have 2010 MS office installed. Trend Micro anti-virus. Problem?...when comp sets idle for extended length of time, unable to open Firefox or IE. Unable to access task manager. Unable to shut down or restart comp using start/shut down buttons. Must shut down and restart manually....Then all of ok again for awhile. This problem doesn't seem to happen if using comp, even for an extended length of time. My prev comp Dell 4600/XP/2 gig ram/80 gig hd dr/Office 2003....didn't have this prop. Any suggestions?. Thanks...

    Turn off hibernation
Don't allow pc to turn off hard disks after set period of time
Don't allow pc to enter a sleep mode after set period of time
Allow it to turn off your monitor after ~25 minutes or whatever you like

If you need help in turning these features off, let me know

System and security/Power options/ high performance in control panel, make sure in edit plan settings/advanced.
I'm not sure if that will help you but at least we can rule out a couple of things. It obviously shouldn't do that.
