Problem #2 Modem

My modem only connects at 45000 and I constantly get disconnected. Here are the stats:

I went to the mfg website and upgraded the driver. My service provider is ATT and has its own connection button, and the only numbers available are for v.92. Since my modem is a v.90 could this be in someway causing the problem.

As you can see, I keep on getting a lot of errors. Is there a way to get a v.92 driver upgrade.

You would be well off to get a hardware modem.

Otherwise:

Your connection speed is fine. Try updated drivers, might need to check with the telco to see if there is excessive line noise.

Keep in mind overloaded ISPs will suffer more disconnections than smaller ISPs that don't have as many users.

See if there is another dial up number to connect to.

 

A V.90 modem wil connect just fine to a V.92 server. What you are experincing is either line noise or AT&T servers in your area are slammed. If you have had this problem with more then one ISP then i would say it is most likely line noise. Do not rule out your modem just because it passes the internal windows diag that does not mean that it is 100% functional it may still have trouble handshaking and properly passing data over the internet.
