Problem Accessing User Profile

hey everyone im having a sort of..big problem with my laptop

i have always had one user no my laptop..the main admin user..this has all my files..programs etc
from this morning i have been getting this error message

"windows cannot load the locally stored profile. possible causes of this error include insufficient security rights or a corrupt local profile. if this problem persists, please contact your local administrator"

and then


"windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you on with a temporary profile. changed you make to this profile will be lost when you log off"

it then gives me a new profile with just the basics...none of my word files....not even microsoft word

can someone please give me some advice on what i can do to restore my original profile?
