problem burning audio CDs

ok i have a NEC ND-2510A cd/dvd burner and i have been running into problems when burning audio cds. i use nero to burn and i keep on getting write errors. the burner will only burn audio cds intermitently and it burns DVDs like a champ. so what up?

 

i am having a similar problem. my audio cds burn, but only the first 4 or 5 tracks work, and the rest of them wont play, even though it finds them. it is like there is a major scratch, only the disk is perfect. works with some cd's, but not my sony, or fujfilm ones. they work in my other cd-r drive

 

This is probably hardware. But try using different software, different types of CD-R's. Also make sure no other applications are running when you burn. Perhaps you need more RAM? I assume these are internal drives, not external. Anything else on the same bus?

 

unfortunately none of your suggestions are valid considering i have a gig of ram and it burns DVDs like a charm. software is a possibility, but the Roxio program i have isn't compatible with the NEC burner i have. but my most valid guess as to what the problem is, is the firmware that i'm using, but finding the firmware update is a hard thing to do and i have no idea how to do it. if anyone has any suggestion please feel free to help me out.

right now the burner struggles to burn audio and data CD-R discs. i either receive a write error in Nero or a power calibration error. i'm pretty fed-up with this problem and i have tried everything i know to do, and i have never run into problems with Nero in the past and would like to continue using such a quality program.

 

does anyone have any idea? i'm getting desperate here

 

OMG, u have the same, but exact opposite problem i had, lol. my first 4 tracks of a music cd where the ones that were messed up. but then i appear and same the day. do you have anything else plugged into the same ide bus? like on my computer,i had a cable that first went to a dvd drive and then to my cd-rw, adn i unplugged the dvd ide cable and kapow!!!! it works perfect again, all the songs on my cd's work like there suppose too now. try unpluggin everything except the cd-rw and try burnin a cd. just thought i'd let you know.

P.S. that'll be $100 plz, lol

 

Set the burner drive as master and the read-only drive as slave. It works best that way.

 

i believe my DVD burner is set as the master at least that's how i set it up when ever i installed my pioneer slot drive. however i did have to reformat to get my computer to start up when ever i installed the pioneer drive.

 

ok here is it i updated the firmware to the most recent version, and i still have this problem where i can't burn CD-R discs. i successfully completed a audio and data disc at 8x, but the audio disc will only play like the first 24 or 30 seconds. i'm still able to burn DVDs like a charm, but the whole CD-R thing i really need to get fixed. if i even try to burn a disc at 32x it wont finish all the way down to 8x. this problem is absurd. i guess i should contact NEC, but i know that will end up taking a lot of time.
