problem downloading .mpg files

Until recently, if I wanted to download a .wmv file or a .mpg file, I simply clicked on it and it would download.
My son installed a game on the PC which also installed Quicktime player. Now, I can still download .wmv files, but when I click on an .mpg file, Quicktime player opens and I can't download the file.
I've checked that Windows Media Player is the default player for .mpg files and I've tried to uninstall Quicktime player but the problem still persists.
I'm using Mozilla Firefox and Windows 98 SE.

    Anyone got any ideas?

    "The problem still persists."

You uninstall Quicktime, and the files still open with QT?

Kinda sounds like its not really being uninstalled.

    In Windows Media Player,

    Tools, Options, File Types.

    Click Select All, then apply.

That should reset everything back to WMP.

You're probably right about it not being uninstalled properly - I'll give it another go. The settings on WMP are all OK though - I've already done what you suggested.

    thanks
