problem file

hello,
i have windows xp pro...i have a file that i keep downloaded music in (mostly from Bearshare).... recently, whenever i tried to open the file windows would crash. I got very persistant with the dang file and have found which one crashes but i cant delete it!! i cant delete the entire file muchless the subfolder that I suspect the bad file is in. I have tried my norton to see if there is a virus in it and it crashes...i have windows utilities and the file shredder crashes....even going into the command prompt to delete it crashes the command prompt!!! I am totally lost on how to get rid of this file...i dont care about the music thats on it...just want it gone from my system...I would appreciate ANY help with this.

Dang, always be careful downloading files from P2P programs. Sounds like you're due for a trip to the malware gurus in the Malware Removal forum

You could try this. Pocket KillBox is a program that can be used to get rid of files that stubbornly refuse to allow you to delete them.

ok ill try the killbox.....was working on the 1st guys suggestion...there was nothing in norton's quaratine folder.

 

it crashed the killbot too

 

Do you have the p2p program shut down?
Have you tried in safe mode?

 

yes the p2p is down and I tried to delete the file in safe mode but the same results....i dont know much about this dr.watson thing but it has crashed it a few times too....i am looking through nortons logs and it jogged my memory.

im trying the killbot one again...instead of telling it to delete the subfolder, i told it to delete the entire folder...it has a small task just doing that...there isnt anything but music MP3 and .wma files in there...so i'll let ya know when it hits the "MISC subfolder"....thats where the crash is at but thats about as far as I have gotten.

 

well it crashed the killbot again and the unlocker assistant....going to try the third proggie that was advised.

Dr watson, is a debugging tool, not a program that you see unless your having crashes. Its not the one crashing itself.

 

I have a problem with file msvctvrl.dll because without this file I can not run much programs eg. Avant Browser , Norton system works or Ares . Could someone send me this file on my mail box ?? liberton@o2.pl
