Problem in GMail (I think)

I will try to describe the problem. GMail and Wildblue have not replied to my questions.

We got what I would think was a phishing e-mail several days ago. It supposedly was from Comcast Billing. We do not and never have had an account with Comcast, either tv or internet. I deleted the message. Since then we have had notices that our message to Comcast Billing has been refused. We never sent the nessage.

Here is the real problem. This affects one laptop but not our two desktops or the second laptop so it is isolated to that laptop. Whenever we send an e-mail message on that laptop it says it is from Comcast Billing. I have searched to find the "option" which says use this signature as the sending person to no avail.

I have run Norton, Advanced System Care, and AdAware, deleted all cookies and caches, etc., etc. None of this has fixed the problem. Any suggestions and or advice is greatly appreciated.

Do you access your gmail by using a web browser or an email client such as Windows Mail or Windows Live Mail?

It is through the WildBlue (our satellite ISP) e-mail window, none of the Windows mail, Live Mail or Outlook Express. It looks as if it is in the options for the WildBlue access. They do have a signature option which contains the Comcast Billing name. I have no idea how it got there. But they say that is only as a signature, not a name. We have no problem on any of the other three machines, all of which use the same ISP and mail location, even if we us the WildBlue access rather than Outlook Express.

Thank you for your query. This is very frustrating.

And, that window is a window of your web browser. Correct? If you are not using an email client such as Windows mail, Live Mail or Outlook Express, then you must be accessing your gmail account by opening a web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google's Chrome, etc.). So, what browser are you using when you access your gmail account? Do you have more than one web browser installed on that laptop? If so, have you tried using a different browser to access gmail?

It happens with both FireFox and IE. The name is coming from the signature box in WildBlue. I need to delete or remove that signature line.

    Thank you

Have you ever installed software from Comcast? If you look in Programs and Features (Windows 7), do you see any programs there that you do not know how they got installed?

I am inclined to suggest that you try 1 or 2 more protection apps, such as Malwarebytes AntiMalware and SUPERAntiSpyware.
