Problem installing Hijackthis

I've ran hijackthis before, but i needed to update it so I uninstalled it. When I tried installing the new version I have this error that says:

An error occurred while attempting to create the directory: C:\Documents and Settings\UserXP\Application Data\Microsoft

I tried to run hijackthis since recently my computer started showing errors in writing or saving programs. Also, my recycle bin says it has a "WINDOWS" folder that I can't delete or restore.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Unfortunately running HJT alone isn't sufficient enough to handle the types of infections we see today.
