problem may be caused by fastfat.sys

    problem with fastfat.sys on blue screen when trying to install windows xp over 98. when tried install in safe made error message "irql_not_less_or_equal" came up. have compaq presario amd-k6 3d processor 500mhz. 120gb hard drive (not original) 184mb ram. drives are in ms-dos capability mode. no software currently installed. have run fdisk and scan disk with same results. processor has been in storage for 3 years but seems to work fine.
