Problem Mouse pad

    I am not sure if this is a hardware or software issue but on my daughters HP Pavilion laptop the mouse pad goes spastic. it was working and then suddenly the little arrow starts blinking and you can no longer control it with the mouse pad. If I turn off the mouse pad and plug in the wireless mouse the cursor goes back to normal. What could be up with the mouse pad on the laptop?

    seems to be behaving itself now. i will see how long that lasts. Thanks for the advice.
