I use WIN XP Pro. Zone Alarm firewall. AVG anti virus and Win Patrol.
Win Patrol keeps telling me that a new IE add on wants to access the internet. The info it gives is "C:\WINDOWS\dnbrx1.dll". I have not intentionally downloaded this and do not know if it is safe to let it run?
I have updated and run scans with AVG. A Squared. CCleaner and AdAware. They found a few problems and dealt with it. I have also run Advance Windows Care.
I have tried using the Find system, but cannot find the file (C:\WINDOWS\dnbrx1.dll) on my computer to remove it.
Is it ok to let this add on run? If not how do I remove it please?

    Hi

This dll rings a bell but I'm not sure if i've seen it as malware or as a legit addon. As you didn't download it yourself to your knowledge I think we should take the following step just to make sure.

    - Please run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread
READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

After doing ALL of the above make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:

    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too (these scans are covered in steps 6 & 7 of the READ & RUN ME sticky)

    Bitdefender
    Panda Scan
    HijackThis

    Good Luck!:)

Thanks. I will work through that and see what results. If the add on is ok I could just let it run, nut as I can't see how I got it I prefere not to.

Well I did a basic lookup (only basic for now) but I couldn't find it so its best we do follow those steps first.

Please try to follow all the steps properly as this will helps us identify and solve and problems quicker in the long run.

    Matt
