Problem please help

I have a hp dv6000 laptop and it has a black screen. The computer works fine when i attach a monitor to it. please help? what could be the problem?

 

It is possible that the invertor has failed, as it will show on a monitor.
You can try checking in the bios to see that it is set to show video to both the screen and the external montor,

 

is the inverter located in the screen? i changed the screen and still has the same problem

 

It is also possible that the screen cable has worked loose behund the screen--
Sometimes if you switch of, remove the battery, and hold down the power button for a few seconds, these will fire up to the screen-these models have a history of video problems

 

The inverter is located under the screen it isn't physically part of the LCD panel,new LCD panels don't come with inverters.

To test the inverter you need to connect it to a multimeter and test the voltage,be VERY careful though the inverter output is high voltage and you can get hurt if you touch the contacts,if your insure get a pro to check it.

I'm not tryna scare you I do it all the time,I just don't want to be responsible for you getting hurt.

The other option is to buy an inverter anyway and just replace it.

Usually if the inverter is damaged you can still see and image on the screen its just dark as the inverter only powers the backlight of the screen,unfortunately this is also the symptom of a broken backlight but s very unlikely since both screens have the same symptoms.

Double check your screen connection by removing then replacing.
