A long story about how I got to this point, but I need to reinstall Windows XP Home. I have both total install and upgrade disks (both pre-PS1). I have a newly formatted 25 gig partition at the beginning of my disk, detected as "C". When I try to install XP it gets to the first restart point, then upon restarting begins the process from the start. I haven't been able to get it out of this loop. I also tried hooking up another hard drive with a similar size newly formatted space with the same result, and the same result with either the "full" or upgrade disks. Very high-end everything, has run XP almost since the introduction (upgrades frequently). Any thoughts?

I've had this problem a long time ago and the solution is simple. It is caused by Windows setup not reading the partition table correctly. Start XP setup, delete ALL partitions, simply quit setup and reboot. Now continue setup as usual (create partitions etc.).

Thanks for the tip, erikske, I'm trying it now. Be back soon.
