Problem reading mails in outlook

Hi, I wonder if anybody can help me, my daughter attacked the keyboard this afternoon and my outlook has not been the same since. My sent emails no longer appear in my sent email box I have made sure the setting is on saved sent mails, I went into tools then options then into send then made sure save copy of sent messages in the sent items folder was ticked it was already ticked but am I sending test emails to my other email address and they are not appearing in my sent messages folder although I am receiving them, even more worrying is that my in box says I have three new messages but not one new messages is showing up in my inbox.

Earlier I had one new message that did not appear it was only that I was expecting an email from a friend Jane that I did a find email advanced search I looked under her name in the from box search and it found it but it did not show up in my email box. Now as I have said I have three new emails but there is not one new email showing up in my inbox what can I do? HOpe all this has made sense.

Just to add a quick note I have just noticed something that was never there before on random emails I have a little box with a cross in next to them when I click on them they are like drop down boxes when I right click it says delete folder move etc, its like all through my inbox on random emails drop down boxes have been created not sure if this has anything to do with it.

 

when I try to delete the email with the drop down boxes it says do you want to delete email with collosped conversation? It has set up lots of these on lots of my emails does this have something to do with the problem?

 

panic over i have taken off the collapsing conversations which must have been put on when my daughter attacked my keyboard and all is working fine pheewwwwwwwwwww.
