problem uninstalling a pc game

i've installed and played a pc game called Torment, i ran into a problem with it and decided to try and uninstall it. I thought i had gotten rid of it but under the add/remove page it still seems to be there and when i click remove i get the message "An installation support file could not be installed. The system cannot find the file specified." I would like to reinstall the game and give it another try but i only get the uninstall option which leads me to that error. Anything i can do or did i delete something i shouldnt have?:confused

 

Hi Jenny, welcome to Majorgeeks forums, try scanning with CCleaner to clean ot your temp files, also use the Registry tab (PLEASE MAKE A BACKUP WHEN PROMPTED, just in case ) to clean out any old and broken links.

 

ok it seems to be unistalled i can no longer find it on the add/remove list or on the clean up tool and i have run the cc cleaner. i can now get to the set up but as soon as it starts i get an error saying "The InstallShield Engine (iKernel.exe) could not be installed. Data error (cyclic redundancy check)". Of course i have no idea what any of that means :-o so any help is much appreciated.

 

Data error (cyclic redundancy check) or CRC means that a file that is needed is broken or cannot be read; if it's a downloaded game, you could try downloading a new copy; if it's a CD/DVD, try cleaning the disc and the player.

That's one of the best RPGs EVER! Why would you want to get rid of that?!? :confused

 

:-D i know! i love it too but my game kept locking up at one of the portals so i decided to try and reinstall it, then i ran into all kinds of trouble.

 

If you're in Vista, try the compatibility modes... oh, and let me know if you want any good patches and fan mods.
