problem uninstalling a program

Hi
I've been trying to uninstall a program for about 2 months now, i tried using the control pannel to remove it but it would not allow it. i tried putting the disc in, it goes through all its uninstall business and when its finished its still there on the program list.
is there any over way to remove the program and its files.

What program are you dealing with?
What Operating System do you have?
Also, you might do better if you try removing it in Safe Mode.

Forgot to put it in my second post it was star wars Kotor, my brother installed it last year, but i'm using the computer for uni work now and it was bugging me how stubborn the program was being . so i decided to call for assistance before i inevitably threw it out of the window in a fit of self righteousness.
