I tried to uninstall Java 6 Update 2 using Add/Remove Programs as one of the steps chaslang told me in fixing my malware problem.

The first time I got this message
After running HijackThis and Avenger as part of the malware solution I tried again and got these messages
    and
I searched for files and didn't find the file on my computer.

I tried the link and got this message
A 3rd attempt to uninstall yeilded the same messages as the 1st time

    How can uninstall this?

While looking through Add/Remove Programs I saw 2 entries that don't have a Remove button, Safari browser that I uninstalled a while ago, and DJS Shared Licensing that caused a problem with uninstalling Symantec products and I ran the Symantec fix that it said to use in the forum. When I ran CCleaner Registry Scan it showed a lot of Issues with Symantec and Safari Entries as well as other junk in my system.

How can I safely remove all this garbage that's left behind?

Can you reboot into safe mode and try uninstalling from there? A guess is it is running on startup and will not uninstall properly. If so, try to install update 4 now.

I went into safe mode and tried uninstalling it from add/remove programs and I got the error message- can't uninstall, you're either in safe mode or the installer wasn't installed properly.

I installed update 4 as one of the steps in fixing my malware problem. Udate 3 uninstalled but update 2 didn't.

When I use CCleaner > Tools on all three entries I get the following messages

Uninstall Java Update 2 - Internal Error 2753. RegUtils
Delete Java Update 2 - Cannot delete MSI installer.

Uninstall DJS - This action is only valid for products that are currently installed.
Delete DJS - Cannot delete MSI installer.

Uninstall Safari - The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable....
Delete Safari - Cannot delete MSI installer.

Thanks Steve_East9, it removed all 3 from the add/remove programs list. I think I saw this when I was looking for a solution to the malware problem I was having.

When I run the Registry Scan in CCleaner it shows a lot of "Issues" with all of them automatically selected. Is it ok to click 'Fix selcted issues' and let CCleaner fix all of them?

I used CCleaner the way you said and it cleaned up almost everything. There are still 2 problems that it can't clean up. CCleaner says it fixed them but they still show up on the Registry Scan. The problems are both Missing Shared DLL. Both Registry Keys are in H_KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SharedDlls.

When I click "Open in Regedit" both give an error message "Error reading the value's contents". The problem seems to be that both entry names have some characters in an alternate character set.

I don't see a report or export feature so I'll describe the entry names in case it helps:
The first one has C:\WINDO followed by a space, then 'yyy' but the y's have 2 dots over each of them, followed by 'nk'.
Then second one has C:pROG followed by a hollow vertical rectangle, Then 'yyy' with the 2 dots over them, then 'C'.

Is there a way to clean these up?
