okay so the past few months I have been having trouble when I am on ebay. it will work initially but after a few minutes every link that I click on take me to a page that says this page has been deleted or moved. Then when I try to return the ebay home page it comes up completely blank. no logos or anything and I cant get it to work again for a few hours at least. Any ideas?

    Hi,

Have you tried running a scan for any Nasties which may be lurking.

    Try using Malwarebytes anti-malware.

    Evening TaylorHart,
Is it only Ebay that this happens?
As the above post mentioned you can run Malwarebytes anti-malware.. Install it and run in "safe mode".

Hi, that was a good point about running in safe mode. Thank you for pointing out my error :)

Yes it is only on ebay. It is a fresh install of windows and it did it on my previous os too.

Just did another quick Google, do you use IE as your browser? I have seen similar posts form a while ago

that Mention IE suffering on Ebay, Have you Tried downloading Firefox instead?

How do you access the internet, are there any others computers connected to the connection?

It could be possible its a problem at the router, has anyone else access to it?

Sometimes a router can become unstable and will benefit from a reset.

You could try a router reset BUT make sure you use the Routers back up facility first this will allow you to re-instate the settings should you need to.

Resetting it will revert the router to its default settings including passwords and Wireless Log on, so be sure to check that these are still on the back of the router.

I will go back to Malwarebytes once more, did you use it? do you have any external drives/flash drives, I would connect these and scan them too just in case.

    Thanks!

I would take a guess at possible corruption of cookies, I have heard that this can happen on firefox.

You can manually remove a problem cookie if it happens again!

My ebay problem has returned. I tried doing a deletion of my cookies and complete reinstall of firefox but no luck this time. Ebay wont work in IE or Firefox. Anyone have any ideas what causes this?

Try opening a command prompt and entering ipconfig /flushdns

Do you see any other oddities happening?

try one more browser just for the hell of it. get Chrome. start checking the event logs for any odities. see how long it takes to replicate the problem.

some info on the last post,

By using the 'ipconfig /flushdns' command, you delete the contents of the DNS resolver cache, meaning that your system will now recheck its settings to see where it should be going to get DNS addresses.

The 'ipconfig /displaydns' command will show you the current contents of your system's DNS resolver cache

I tried flushing the dns and that didnt work. I ran ccleaner and deleted all my temporary files and cookies and ebay worked. however the moment i left the site and tried to go back it was just a blank white page again. cant figure this thing out.

"I tried flushing the dns and that didnt work."

Does that mean that the DNS cache failed to flush, or that flushing the cache had no effect on your eBay problem?

Have you run any anti-malware or AV scans in the last few days? Might be a good idea if you haven't. It seems you may have narrowed the problem to either a temp file or a cookie, so run your scans before running CCleaner.

I concur with also trying another browser, but I'm not partial to Chrome as it's very invasive and will load a few other memory-resident things (GoogleUpdater, etc.).

    What OS are you on?
