I don't know where to go for my questions... 3 kind of basic ones...
Help! I have Vista Home Premium and "Norton Internet Security" came pre-installed.
Everytime I run the Norton I find "one" item to "fix" and I run every 2 days or so... had the computer for 2 months... is Norton That good ??
If not, which specific version that you offer in Freeware (if any) can I maybe "booste" it with ??
Thirdly can I install Ad-Aware 2007 (my good ole' trusted Program)..

    Re: Problems with updating Vista

Well hello again... I didn't see where to post to address my questions so I did the next best thing, I posted in the wrong place (because I connect to the internet just fine)... but I thought I explained the real problem... well anyway, since then I have used AD-AWARE and found 206 threats. I am also having an extremely hard time keeping my cursor where it's supposed to be.... it jumps around terribly... and even though I set the cursor response to "fast" ... I better not because I'll loose my place.... over and over and over.... even now this page has minimized about 8 times... This is a laptop...
I can't use the icons here either... they turn into words instead...

Well I'll be back on the computer after 12:00 so either way... you guys rock !!
You helped me with an anxient machine before so I know this is probably gravy for Major Geeks !!

    Hi Judey

I have moved your posts to its own thread and kept MarkTrents posts above as it explains how to create a new thread if you need to in the future.

What are types of threats that Ad-Aware is highlighting? ( dont worry about tracking cookies ) but if any of the others are listed as trojan spyware malware etc then do run the below guide if malware is found.

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

Then once finished this guide start a new thread in malware ( hence leaving Marks link to guide above ) forum and attach the logs and here is guide on how to attach the logs HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post

Where to post new thread in MALWARE FORUM

I am having trouble locating the Vista Firewall without only Norton Firewall popping
up instead... it seems so easy but man, I can't find it to make sure that it's on like you said before uninstalling Norton ...

To access the Vista Firewalls basic settings; Click the Windows button>> Control Panel>> Windows Firewall.
See if you can find it. If you can, look for the enable inbound and outbound but don't turn it on yet.

Since Norton hs been known to let things behind when you uninstall it, gra the Norton Cleanup tool.

Then 1. disconnect from the internet because you will be without a firewall for a bit.
    2. Uninstall Noron
    3. Run the Norton Cleanup Tool
    4. Reboot
    5. Find the Vista Firewall agin and enable it.
    6. Plug back into the internet.

Ok I cannot disconnect from the internet. I disconnect, it pops on in 3 seconds or so. Even unplugging the phone cord from the wall doesn't do it ! It takes away my ability to use my phone all the hwireless won't go off. I spent days on the phone getting this router to work. Earthlink Techs (a manager explained days later) don't really
understand enough as of yet about the 4 versions of "Vista" and it took a Manager to
finally get me up and running. He said they don't even have a CD for Vista yet...
I am so afraid to have another "Earthlink Telephone Tech Week" if I have to undo everything to stay off line. They don't give you strait to the manager by far... they have to see several attempts first.... and sometimes their English was so heavily accented that I had to excuse myself from the call because I started to cry (it's ok to laugh now, I just had to laugh typing this, well this is hind sight now so)..

Is there any other choice I have to get off the DSL Wireless except to break down my entire life into a thousand tiny pieces ?? I really am ROTFLMAO... but at the same time sincerely asking a question....
