problem w/ cd rom

i recentley had a problem w/ my cd rom drive. the tray was stuck and would not close. i took the cd rom out of the tower( unplugged it) and fixed the problem. it now ejects properly but the problem is it won't read any disk.
i'm guessing i need to reinstall the disk for the E drive. thing is, i don't think i have the disk anymore. is there a program i can get off the web maybe through download.com that would take the place of my boot disk?
i have a HP pavilion 513c.
any help would be greatly appreciated..
