Problem w/ Win Update and IE

Good Day All -
Running win XP Media. Had some problems w/malware I thought were fixxed by spybot+. Unfortunately I can't access the internet or windows update unless I boot in Safe Mode. LAN assigns IP okay, but no access unless I boot in the aforementioned Safe Mode. Windows Update gives me an error of 0x8007043C when I access using Safe Mode. Is there any hope?

Any help is much appreciated.

 

Probably wouldn't hurt to visit the Malware section and go through there "Read and Run me First" guide to make sure you are completely clean. Spybot will not clean and remove malware a lot of the time.

 

Thanks AB. Have run prescribed cleaning for malware, should have elaborated beyond Spybot. Obviously something is still blocking our WAN access on this computer. It will access the WAN if started in Safe Mode w/Networking.
