Problem While Loading Norton AV Corp Ed

I was doing an individual client install on a new Windows XP station of the Norton AV Corp Edition (7.6) that we use for our network. While it was installing, an error occurred that shut down and restarted the workstation. When I opened up the Control Panel when it came back up, the Norton Corp Edition was not in the list of installed programs; however, when I tried to run the local client install again, I got a message that said there was already an install in progress.

I checked the task manager, and it was not still running in the background. I restarted, I deleted all files in Windows/temp, I ran cleanmgr to remove all temp files; however, it still will not allow me to start a new install. When I run the install disk, it starts the wizard, gets as far as "gathering information" then just stops dead.

Another tech person I asked thought that maybe some portion of the NAV files might have already loaded, making the install disk think that a partial install had already taken place. So he suggested I go to Crogram Files and find any folders containing related files and delete them. I deleted NAVnt and Symantec. The install still won't run.

Do you know of anything else I can do to clear out the aborted installation attempt and start a new one? (I can't call Symantec for support because the tech guy who left a few months back did not maintain our support fees.)

Any suggestions would be most appreciated!

 

Delete all temprory files in documents and settings/user name/local settings/temp


(must have display contents of system folders enabled in control panel>folder option>view to see this path)
Then try.

Norton website might have an uninstaller.Try that.
