Gang, I was giving my Dad a lesson on how to resize his desktop icons/fonts for easier viewing and when I restored it to the original settings, I have this extra Grey bar attached to the programs list. How do I get rid of this thing? Thanks

hi. that second column is there because the list is too long to fit the screen. you have an Internet Explorer shortcut on the desktop, so it will be alright to delete the one in the start menu. that will make it single column again.

Theres no need to delete anything!

Right click on the TaskBar and select Properties

    Select the Start Menu tab

    Click Customize

If in classic view then Check the item Scroll Programs in the lower list

If in 'xp view' Click the Advanvced Tab and Check the item Scroll Programs in the list

    Click Apply and then OK
