Problem with 250 GB Maxtor HD!

Here's the problem. When i first bought the hard drive, i installed it into my computer, i ran the cd installation and it installed and it had all 250 gb's. Well i had to reformat my other hard drive with the windows xp on it. Now it is showing the hard drive as only having 129 gb's or something. The computer has service pack 1 on it already, but does not yet have sp2 on it. Could it be that i need to install sp2?

 

Try downloading partition magic, and watch whats happen with the other amount of the HD space!!!

 

it must be some partition problem, maybe when you was installing windows you did something wrong, check it!! good Luck!!

 

Ive had this happen with my larger maxtor drives as well....

put your maxtor installation cd in the drive.
open the device manager and select the drive in question
right click>properties>driver>update driver and choose Install from a specific disk or location. have it search the maxtor disk, it should automaticly find the correct drivers, install them and you should be back to having a 250gig HD

if u reformatted with ntfs quick that could be your probelm try remormatting with ntfs just the noraml time consuming one
