problem with ad-aware

this is on behalf of a friend of mine

last week a friend of mine ran ad-aware with system restore turned off..
after doing that she was not able to connect to the internet.
she called the geek squad and they said " you can not use ad-aware with msn".
they also said in order for her to fix it she had to install sp2. her e-machine disc ( Operating Disc ) and then reinstall msn.

i did\do not know what to tell here. everything i have read about ad-aware i have NOT seen this problem or anyone who has had this problem.

she used the most current version of ad-aware

any idea what was the problem.....

well last night i reinstalled her msn, and seems to have worked
then i ran spy-bot and found 0ver 100 spyware..
then installed sp2
all is ok

today i get to go to Best buy to bitch at the gut for telling me that crap..
geek squad=bad information
