Problem with Ad Aware

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated...
I'm trying to clean my parents computer for them so I installed AdAware and ran the program. After it found over 400 objects to be removed, I hit 'next' and it said it was 'quarantining the selection'. Then when it's supposed to delete the objects, it does nothing. The bar comes up that says 'deleting selection', but the computer does nothing.

I tried this about 4 or 5 different times last night and it kept finding those 400 objects, but I wasn't able to delete them. I even let it go all night and this morning the 'deleting selection' bar was still up, and the computer was doing nothing. It's like the computer is getting stuck and doesn't know what to do next, or that there's so much stuff to remove it doesn't know where to start. I was thinking about trying to remove the objects in increments, but wanted to see if anyone had experienced this.

Also, they have dial up, but I didn't know if that mattered since Ad aware runs without the internet.

Have you tried any other tools. You should read the following stickies before replying/continuing inorder to eliminate a plethora of virus/spyware possibilities.

Sorry, I thought it would have been a computer specific problem, meaning there was something set up already to mess with Ad aware (that would need to be fixed). I will try the other programs as well.
