This programme has been working well, until a few days ago when I tried to open a PDF file in my hotmail and got the message that i do not have the software to open this PDF file.
I redownloaded Adobe reader and when I tried to open it received the following message
"File does not have a program assoiated iwith it for performing this action. Create an association in the folder options control panel.

I opened folder options > Files tab. then entered PDF
but still have the same problem.

Can anyone help me with this problem or suggest similar
software Program I can download to open PDF Files

Any help will be greatly appreciated, Thanks

To me, this sounds like you had an older version of Adobe Reader that couldn't open your file (which must've been created with a LATER version of Adobe Acrobat), and lost the file association when you installed the latest version.

Usually, to set a file association, you do the following:

    1. Right-click the file
    2. Select 'Open With --> Choose Program'
    3. Select 'Adobe Acrobat Reader' from the list of programs (or browse for the executable if it is not there)
    4. Check the box next to 'Always Use This Program To Open These Kinds Of Files'
    5. Apply your settings.

This should cause your new version of the reader to be the default for opening PDF files.

Or, if you're like me, you may not want to bother with the Adobe Reader, its version conflicts and its excessive resource consumption. If you are this type of person, then I would recommend Foxit Reader, which is a great alternative for Acrobat Reader that doesn't suffer version conflicts, and uses less memory and hard drive space as well as doesn't set any registry keys.

Many thanks for your solution to my problem.
After fixing Adobe Reader I have decided to go with Foxit Reader.
This is just the sort of progam I like.
Many thanks, your help greatly appreciated.
