Problem With Adobe Reader

I had a problem with Adobe Reader. I couldn’t open any PDFs and not even the application itself. To cut a long story short I uninstalled and reinstalled it. Now I have a new problem. I can’t use any of its features unless I opt for a seven-day free trial.

This really annoys me how companies do this to people. Of course, they hope people forget to end the free trial, or to do so on time, so that they can start billing you. I wouldn’t forget but I still don’t want to give Adobe my personal and card details.

I think its time governments started passing laws and brought these technology companies to heel.

Is there anyway around this? I don’t want, and don’t see why, I should be forced into (a) the free trial and (b) to having to give a company details I don’t want to give and for which they have no need.

I provide the following info if it’s needed to help with this enquiry:

PC: Acer Aspire XC-840
Operating System: Windows 11 Home (x64)
Adobe Version: Not sure what info to give but the following are listed as being on my PC by Belarc Advisor:

• Adobe - Acrobat Update Service version 1.824.460.1047
• Adobe Systems - Acrobat version 23.3.20244.0 (64-bit)
• Adobe Systems - Acrobat DC version 23.3.20244.0 (64-bit)

 

UPDATE: My original problem has returned. I cannot open the application Adobe Acrobat and I cannot open any PDF files.

Can anyone please suggest what's going on and how I might resolve it?

 

I haven't used adobe in years. Get something besides adobe and save space and headaches.
