Problem with Avira Anitvirus update

I download the antivirus software yest--took 9 hrs with my slow dialup connection. When I try to update, I keep seeing these types of messages on the report:

Downloading of 'http://64.136.53.38/update/idx/master.idx' to 'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Avira\AntiVir Desktop\TEMP\UPDATE\idx\master.idx'.
17:29 [UPDLIB] [ERROR] Download manager: While attempting to download file 'http://64.136.53.38/update/idx/master.idx', the server returned the status "bad request".
17:29 [UPDLIB] [ERROR] No additional servers found, the update will be canceled.
17:29 [UPD] [ERROR] Generation of update structure failed. UpdateLib delivers error 537.

I would hate to have to download it again due to the long time involved. In fact every time I often get kicked off the internet before big downloads can finish. I may have to give in and buy something that comes in CD form.

 

Im on Windows XP home edition. I uninstalled Avast (the main reason was my subscr was up and every time I tried to download a new one it was unsuccessful so I switched to another antivirus). I have no firewalls. The only security software on the computer is A-squared, spywareblaster, and spybot search and destroy.
